Which Charlotte Neighborhood Should I Move To?

If you are looking to move to a thriving and growing city with small-town charm, Charlotte, North Carolina is the place for you. Ranked #25 by Glassdoor for Best Cities for Jobs, Charlotte is growing in not only jobs but culture. Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the second largest in the Southeastern region (behind Jacksonville, Florida), and it has several little neighborhoods with individualist personalities. Especially with the LYNX light rail, you have many great locations to move to, and you’ll have access to all the unique characteristics of the true Queen City. We hope that you can find your new home in one of the Charlotte neighborhoods, and Hornet Moving would love to be the team that helps you move!

Uptown

Uptown is the heartbeat of the beautiful Queen City. Since this was the highest elevation point at one time with the city growing around it, Uptown was named for its geographic positioning. The unique name matches a unique city. Home to the Carolina Panthers’ and Charlotte Knights’ stadiums, there is quite a bit to enjoy in this energetic city. With the city being divided into four wards, you can find glistening skyscrapers home to some of the largest headquarters for businesses, rooftop bars, classic hole-in-the-wall restaurants, symbolic cathedrals, and beautiful walking spaces. Whether you work in the city or around it, you can find a modern home in Charlotte to move to. With new apartment buildings being built and renovated daily, you will be in the heart of the growing city.

North Davidson (NoDa)

What was once a turn-of-the-century mill town is now the center for cultivation in art, music, food, and drinks. In the 1980s, two artists saw a vision for this town and opened a gallery. This transformed this area with music joints, galleries, and spaces for creative energy to be shared. You can choose your home from modernly renovated houses or factory buildings turned into condos and apartment complexes. Artists and art enthusiasts unite in the creative hub of Charlotte, North Carolina. When you’re enjoying a walk from one side of it to another, you can find colorful murals on the sides of buildings and streets. Enjoy a French pastry and coffee from Amélie’s, a cold one and live music from JackBeagles, or a meal from the NoDa Bodega in the arts district of Charlotte, North Carolina!

Southend

Since Uptown was the hub for gold mining, Southend became the extension of gold mining and mills. Southend is also the home to the first industrial park for the city. This neighborhood has the energy of unique and new ideas while still remaining true to its historical roots. The main cotton mills are now Atherton Mill and Market, which is home to galleries, furniture studios, and housing along the LYNX light rail. Southend is the hub for craft beer for many of Charlotte’s most popular breweries, including Sycamore Brewing, Wooden Robot, The Unknown Brewing Co., and Lenny Boy Brewing Co., to name a few! You also have unique food spots that you will find nowhere else. So, hop on the LYNX Blue Line light rail from your apartment building and ride to your favorite breweries.

Dilworth

One of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, residents here find any reason to host neighborhood block parties on these historic streets. You can find charming bungalows in this neighborhood that are on the National Register of Historic Places. If you’re looking for a great place to walk your dog on pedestrian-friendly streets, year-round running clubs, and parks for your kids, Dilworth is the place for you to consider. Walk on East Boulevard for trendy clothing from small business owners, unique knick-knacks and home décor, and the famous chicken salad from The Mayobird, as seen on the Food Network.
